Two weeks after the premier of Tanzspiel, Tony was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He underwent radical surgery and enjoyed a year and a half of fairly robust health. During this time, he devoted his energy toward finishing the renovations on the Montanaro Hurll Retreat in Casco, Maine, teaching seminars and workshops (Tony never missed a summer at the Celebration Barn), and making sure that Karen’s show was ready for wide-distribution.
